Standard Guitar Tuning Notes

If you are tuning to standard EADGBE tuning, here’s the reference:

  • E – 6th string (lowest, thickest)
  • A – 5th string
  • D – 4th string
  • G – 3rd string
  • B – 2nd string
  • E – 1st string (highest, thinnest)

Why Use a Chromatic Tuner?

A chromatic tuner detects all notes, not just standard tuning. This makes it perfect for:

  • Alternate tunings (Drop D, Open G, DADGAD, etc.)
  • Other stringed instruments (ukulele, violin, bass)
  • Quick pitch checks for singers and instrumentalists

Pro Tips for Accurate Tuning

  • Tune in a quiet environment to avoid background noise.
  • Pluck the string gently to get a stable reading.
  • Check tuning twice — strings can slip slightly after adjustment.
